Yesterday I bought a 50lb. bag of Quikrete Premium Play Sand for $3.56 after tax. That sure beats the $19.95 they want for a 20lb. bag at the LFS. I poured about 6 inches of sand into my 5 gallon bucket. I ran it under water, stirring it often, until it came clean. This took about 6-9 rinses until I was satisfied enough. I am really pleased with how it looks. It is a lot darker than some of the other sand I have seen. It is not that bleached white looking sand, it looks like the sand you see at the beaches on the East Coast.

I am going to move the Clown Loach from the 10g into the 30g temporarily until I get the gravel replaced with sand. There is some algae on the glass so I think I will take this time to clean it really well. I might even reseal the seams.  I want to remove a lot of the java moss in the 10g and also and some of the red slate to the 10g. I might stop at a few LFS's on my way home to see if I can find some rocks or some more plants. I might also pick up some cories if I can find some decent ones at a good price.
